Navajo Youth to play Live At Leeds 2013 -or is he???

Live At Leeds has just announced the first wave of artists playing in 2013 and we’re one of them! Kind of.

The Live At Leeds show on May 4 will feature the same Youth band and Youth tunes but will be under the name SJBRAVO.

Grammy-winning mixer on board for EP3

We’re thrilled to announce that Grammy-award winning mixer Simon Gogerly (N.E.R.D., U2, Little Boots, No Doubt, Manic Street Preachers) will be lending his world-beating mixing skills to Navajo Youth’s yet-to-be-named EP3, expected to be released in early 2013.

Hello all!

It’s been a while since I did a personal update like this. It’s all been news and reviews lately, so I thought it about time to fill you in on what I’ve been up to.

As you may have guessed, I’ve been working on a new EP, untitled at the moment. This time around, I’ve been co-writing/producing all of the tracks with a talented guy called James Burrell, based in London. James has really helped me explore my sound and my identity, and I think that what we’re creating is really quite exciting.

Other things have been happening, of course. Just before summer, we finished putting together the line-up for a new Navajo Youth live band. I mentioned the guys/girls in a recent interview with the Nottingham Evening Post, but it’s worth me naming the whole line-up on here:

Drums: Declan Muldoon
Bass: Nick Burdett
Synth: Ollie Deans
Synth: Rufus Quickenden
Additional Vocals: Lexi Wells
Additional Vocals: Eve Cross
Additional Vocals: Emily Barber

I’ll also be picking up the odd instrument myself. As you can see, it’s quite a sizeable group, and I really believe that the sounds we’re making in the rehearsal room are awesome. They’ll be with me at all live performances starting around November – we’ll be announcing these soon. In the meantime, we’ve filmed some rehearsal sessions that we’ll post on YouTube shortly to serve as a bit of an introduction to the marvellous new live band.

Apart from that, the Heavy Heart EP has been out for a few months now and the reception has been amazing. Thank you to everybody who has downloaded the EP, bought a physical copy, taken the time to review it, or talked about it to others. Your support means a hell of a lot. The video for Heartbreaker has also gone down a treat, as has the recent video for Heavy Heart -if you’ve not seen it yet, what are you playing at?!

Between now and the next EP release, we’ve got a bonus track we’ve been holding back for a while which will be an exclusive free download for our mailing list members – more on that soon.

Once again, thanks for the support that you have shown Navajo Youth so far, and for the support that I am sure you are yet to show.
